Why Cheley?
We believe that every summer in a young person’s life is a window of opportunity. Cheley truly gives its campers formative experiences that nourish body, mind, and spirit. In today’s world, school is often synonymous with competition and stress. Students are pushed harder to achieve more. Cheley gives young people time to slow down, to open up and explore. They find out more about themselves and come to like themselves more fully each day.
The Cheley program has withstood the test of time. Frank Cheley believed in the positive nurturing of young people when he opened Cheley in 1921. Almost 100 years later, our commitment to the development of youth remains steadfast. The average Cheley camper spends four to five years at camp. Some stay as long as 10 years at this quality Colorado summer camp. In the 2000s, our challenge as caring staff members is to protect and preserve the rugged, rustic character of their experience while providing opportunities for growth, personal responsibility, and self-reliance. This is what makes Cheley a top-rated summer camp and we intend on improving every year.
At Cheley, situated high in the Colorado Rockies, we have created a place and an experience that make time stand still and expand. We watch campers become more confident, independent and responsible, more thoughtful and aware of others. Time away from home and apart from family, in a simple setting of awesome natural beauty, provides unique opportunities to build the judgment, insight, and skills that a happy and satisfying life requires.
Cheley is an accredited summer camp and is always working with these associations to help preserve, promote, and improve the camp experience. If you're looking for a quality Colorado summer camp to build your team-building skills, confidence, and self-reliance, we'd love to have you aboard.
