Where can I find information on your Sessions, Enrollment, and Tuition?
Please visit Dates and Rates. For a timeline of dates relevant to the Cheley Experience (including enrollment), please visit Important Dates.

What are the transportation options to/from camp? And what is the most popular method?

On Arrival Day, campers may arrive by car to Cheley or may meet us at Denver International Airport (DEN) and take our bus to camp. The majority of Cheley campers fly into DEN. Cheley counselors and staff, dressed in red shirts and blue kerchiefs, welcome campers at their gate and walk with them through the airport. Our staff help campers collect and load their gear into comfortable transportation for the two-hour ride to camp.

What are Cheley's visiting and communications policies?

Everybody loves to get mail. Even though we limit care packages to ONE per camper, we welcome cards and letters. And you can also send an e-mail, one way from you to your camper. It is better for the emotional well-being of you and your camper if you plan your visit for Final Saturday. We do not allow visitors on any other days as it is disruptive to the camp program.

How much downtime do campers have?

We follow a daily schedule that provides routine and comfort, particularly for first-time campers. But within that schedule, there’s flexibility with ample time to hang out, step back and experience the moment. It’s one of the beauties of camp. We don’t hurry to get to the next thing. We have time to enjoy one another and, most importantly, to have fun. For a closer look at the daily schedule, visit Camp Life.

What if my child gets homesick?

It's not unusual for children, especially younger ones away for the first time, to feel homesick the first few days. Most get over it quickly and go on to have a wonderful time. We provide structure and keep campers busy from the moment they arrive, which helps to shift their focus away from home to new friends and having fun. By the end of the first week, the routine is familiar and homesickness has passed for the majority of campers. If the first letter from your child is about feeling homesick, don't be alarmed. Letters are usually written during quiet time or in the evening when those feelings are most common. In the rare instance that a child is truly struggling, we will contact you.

What medical staff work at camp and what facilities are nearby? What if my child takes medication?

We have four clean and comfortable health centers with registered nurses (RN) always on duty, who administer daily medications after each meal and before bed. Counselors also have certifications in First Aid and CPR, and Wilderness First Aid for all out of camp programs. Most of the summer, we have a volunteer doctor on site. If additional care is needed, we are four miles from the Estes Park Medical Center.

What's the weather like?

Colorado is known for its beautiful sunshine. We have around 300 sunny days in the yearly calendar. We also have rainy days, hot days, thunderstorms, and sometimes warm summer snowfall! Our typical days at camp are in the low 80s and evenings in the 50s and 60s. In the high mountains, we get all kinds of weather, so pack warm clothes for the high mountains. Follow the packing list for all the essential clothing for camp.
